New Logo!

I am very excited to announce my new logo, designed by Anna Bond at RIFLE.  I love how girlie and romantic it is.  Thanks to Anna's suggestion, the back of the business cards will come in different shades, which will look really nice when I stack them together.

My First Model - Blythe

I have to thank Gina Garen for bringing the lovely doll, Blythe, back to life.  Some people thought Blythe is too scary looking, but I thought it has a special soul that captured me.  By taking photos of my dolls, I was able to test/learn different angles for portraits (believe it or not, LOL), which really helped develop my photography style.

I want to share with you some of my early works.  I really took a lot of time posing them, which was a lot of fun!

Rosie + Joe {engagement}

When I first met Rosie and Joe for the consultation, Rosie brought along her 'wedding plan' folder filled with photos and ideas.  With my appreciation of designs, I believe my eyes went wide opened when she was flipping through her pages, neatly tucked into sheet protectors.  Joe was kind of quiet; sitting closed to Rosie and listened to her talked of the wedding planning.  This is why I love meeting my clients because I am the type of person that likes to observe and I like getting to know my clients that way.

Rosie is very creative, so she and I came up with some different ideas for the shoot.  Unfortunately, some of them didn't work out, but her idea of old architectures as backdrop and yellow balloons was just perfect.  Ok, let's get on with the photos!

The Million Dollar Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles is such a beautiful architecture.

New Goodies

I had a lot of excitement this past Friday.  First I got the package from Paloma's Nest, then I received another big box filled with some Japanese goodies.

  • Superheadz Black Bird, Fly.  A twin-reflex camera features 35mm lens with focal adjustment, 2 exposure settings (f7/f11), 2 shutter speeds, a hot shoe and 2 masks for cropping your film, which can take photos in 3 formats: normal 35mm, square format and full format with no frame.
  • Superheadz Golden Half.  It shoots 2 vertically oriented shots on one 35mm film frame (ex: 48 pictures on a 24 exposure roll).  If you love creating diptychs like me, then this is perfect!  22mm lens; f/8.5-11 aperture; 1/100 shutter speed.
  • Japanese magazine about Scandinavian designs.  After reading the magazine... I want to move to Europe!

The cameras are really to share with my daughter, Venise.  I am interested to see what she will create with these two cameras.  If you haven't seen her Lomo photos, check out her Flickrstream.  :)

Vendor Spotlight: Paloma's Nest

Art and design are a big part of my life, so I want to incoporate that into my business.  To show my appreciation to my clients I wanted to give them something special as a 'thank you' gift.  I took a long time researching because I wanted to work with an artist that I can connect with.  At the end, I had decided to work with the amazing creative Caroline Colom Vasquez at Paloma's Nest.

I must say, Caroline is wonderful to work with.  The ordering process was a breeze, which is a plus for me because of my busy schedule.  AND!  I received my order faster than I expected, which was such a pleasant surprise.

*Thanks, Caroline!*

A Day with Friends

This past weekend, Venise and I went up to Carlsbad and spent a wonderful day at the Carlsbad Flower Field with two of my very good photographer friends, Daisy and Cindy; along with Daisy's super cute daughter, Sophia.  The weather couldn't be better and the flowers were at full bloom.  It was so nice to have a girls day out.  Daisy, Sophia and Cindy, thanks for hanging out with Miss V and me!

Sophia and Venise were eager to share their common interest - Disney Princess.
