Mychang + Stephen :: Engagement Session in Downtown LA

Travel & Leisure magazine style shoot at Los Olivos. *Special thanks to Saarloos and Sons*

Be sure to check out my groom's website, Bob & Byrne, he's a wonderful actor!
My blog has been too quiet these days, I apologize! It's been hectic professionally and personally. However, I am very happy to finally get to blog this e-session!
Michelle and Jeff picked two of the most stylish hotels in Santa Monica (lucky me!); Viceroy and Huntley. I had such a fun time photographing this couple, Michelle's smiles will melt you.

Michelle and Jeff, thanks for a great day! Can't wait to see both of you as bride and groom!
Continue from part 1 of Rosie and Joe's engagement shoot.

I love them, they are such a sweet and super cute couple.

Rosie and Joe, I can't wait to be part of your very special day next month! Thanks again for driving out to LA!

When I first met Rosie and Joe for the consultation, Rosie brought along her 'wedding plan' folder filled with photos and ideas. With my appreciation of designs, I believe my eyes went wide opened when she was flipping through her pages, neatly tucked into sheet protectors. Joe was kind of quiet; sitting closed to Rosie and listened to her talked of the wedding planning. This is why I love meeting my clients because I am the type of person that likes to observe and I like getting to know my clients that way.
Rosie is very creative, so she and I came up with some different ideas for the shoot. Unfortunately, some of them didn't work out, but her idea of old architectures as backdrop and yellow balloons was just perfect. Ok, let's get on with the photos!
The Million Dollar Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles is such a beautiful architecture.

Love the grey and yellow color-combo here.

Look at how they stared at each other... LOVE!

This photo makes me smile. :)

More to come, stay tuned...!

Who can get tired of balloons?!

This session was a lot of fun - from planning to executing. Michelle loves colors and vintage. Paul loves books and music. What better place to go than my favorite street, Abbot Kinney?! The weather was perfect and we met around sunset, so the lighting was gorgeous!
Special thanks to the amazing Kate at Flower Wild for the beautiful flower arrangements.

Special thanks to Equator Books for the space.

Isn't Michelle just gorgeous? The light compliments her perfectly.

During sunset we headed to Venice Broad Walk for some beach photos.

Michelle and Paul, thank you for such a fun filled day! Looking forward to your wedding at Seven Degrees next month. :)

I can't wait to post more from this session!

*Trying a new way of posting photos. What do you think? Or maybe stick with my old style?*

Big thank you to Brenda and Trent for getting up SUPER early for this sunrise shoot! I am looking forward to capture your Hawaii wedding next month!

The photo on the right makes me want to title it, "Grow old with me..."

More to come...
This was supposed to be an angegement session, but Alana wanted to wear her bridal gown. My reaction was... "YES!" We picked a beautiful setting filled with wild flowers, along with Alana's beautiful lace gown the images came out so romantic!

Alana and Anthony, thanks again for braving the cold for this session! I can't wait to see both of you at the wedding!
This is the last post for this amazing and super fun engagement session. I've received quite a few emails asking how I got Jennifer and Dan so natural and at ease in front of the camera. The most important things are 1) two people that are deeply in love and 2) find a place that is meaningful. In this case, we went to UCLA, where they first met. The black and white one is my favorite, with the word "LOVE" written by Jennifer herself. :)

Love these elevator shots, they know how to work it! *thanks to Jenny for holding onto the "open" button!*

The light pointed straight down here, which created some harsh shadow, but that's why I like it because it echos to the dramatic record covers on the wall.

Jennifer and Dan, thank you SO much for a great time! I can't wait to photograph your beautiful day in Malibu!
